After age 30 people begin to suffer from dry, dull facial skin. Around this age most people's skin begins to sag particularly under the eyes, in the cheeks area and under the chin. Often accompanied by irregular patches of pigmentation and deepening lines around the nose, eyes and forehead these are the tale-tale signs of aging we all would like to forestall. Wrinkles happen because as we age our bodies begin to decrease the production of collagen. This causes our skin to loose its elasticity. So while showing signs of aging is unavoidable, there are some factors which worsen the effect that can be controlled. Environmental factors such as second hand smoke, exhaust fumes and the sun's UV rays tend to dry facial skin. Of course, smoking is detrimental to ones appearance. The good news is that by being cognizant of these factors and taking a few simple preventative measures you can minimize the effects of both naturally occurring and environmental factors which contribute to aging. In so doing, it may be possible for you to join the ranks of the few who are seen to be "aging well". Our Recommendations Include:
Combat the sun's harmful UV rays by ritualistically applying a sunblock with a SPF of 30 or higher. Skin cancer is on the rise throughout the world in part because of the naturally occurring and or man made (the debate rages amongst the scientific community) but happening none-the-less, thinning of the Earth's protective ozone layer.
Drink about 64 oz of pure non-fluoridated water each day. One rule of thumb is to divide your current weight in half and drink that number of ounces per day. For example if you weigh 150 pounds you should drink 75 oz of water a day. Another method of determining if you are keeping yourself well hydrated is to have a goal of drinking enough water so that when your urine is not yellow but clear.
The best time to repair and renew facial skin cells is while you are sleeping. Each evening before you go to bed, cleanse your face with a simple natural cleanser such as powdered oats and powdered rose buds. Mist your face with a cold floral hydrolate such as rose. Place a few drops of a concentrated facial serum (or elixir) in the palms of your hands and gently massage your entire face. A good facial elixir will soothe dry delicate skin, encourage moisture retention and provide protection from the elements. It will also help to diminish fine lines and promote healthy glowing skin.
