Helichrysum italicum flowers are bright
yellow and daisy-like in appearance. They grow wild in France and are collected
and prepared into an essential oil. Helichrysum has a pungent herbaceous aroma
that is best softened with rounding oils like lavender or rosewood. Like many of
the pure flower essential oils on the market today, helichrysum italicum is
expensive. It is used in limited quantities most often to heal a variety of skin
problems.
Helichrysum italicum is a powerful
anti-inflammatory and analgesic. It is effective in preventing infection,
healing and diminishing the appearance of cesarean section scars. Helichrysum
increases lymphatic flow and circulation to the cesarean section scar. It
promotes and protects new healthy skin cells. The hard inflamed cesarean section
scar will be soothed and conditioned with the application of helichrysum
italicum essential oil.
Three- Four weeks after your cesarean
section scar has healed ask your doctor if you can begin to use a botanical
salve, butter or oil with helichrysum italicum as a key ingredient. If your
doctor gives consent apply the butter, salve or oil up to three times a day for
a period of three to six months. There is one caution with helichrysum italicum
essential oil and that is abstaining from use if you are taking anti-coagulation
medication.
Helichrysum italicum can also be
effective in healing the following skin conditions: stretchmarks, bruises, sore
nipples, cracked skin, itchy skin, inflamed skin, contusions, hematomas,
varicose veins, sunburn, eczema, wounds, warts, old scars, acne scars, surgical
scars
