Sinus congestion, sinus pain, stuffed up nose, headache..these are all common symptoms during allergy and cold season. An aromatic steam inhalation can be a very effective home remedy. The combination of steam and essential oils encourages the draining of mucus from the sinus and nasal passages. Choose any one or a combination of the following oils: eucalyptus, tea tree, pine, lavender, peppermint, juniper berry, rosemary, sweet marjoram, atlas cedarwood, sandalwood and lemon.
Instructions for an aromatic steam inhalation designed to help relieve congestion and pain of the nasal and sinus passages
Boil 2 pints of water. Take off of the heat and let sit 1 minute
Pour the hot water into a glass bowl and add 1 drop each of essential oils of: eucalyptus, tea tree, pine and lavender
Agitate the water to fully disperse the essential oils
Cover your head with a towel and create a tent over the bowl
Make sure to keep your face at least 8 inches away from the hot steaming water and keep your eyes closed
Breathe in slowly and deeply up to 10 minutes
Prepare an aromatic steam inhalation 2-3 times a day until the symptoms are relieved
