Common Warts are small skin growths caused by a viral infection. There are around 80 different viruses that cause warts. You are most vulnerable to these infections when your immune system is still developing or in a weakened state. Ten percent of the population have warts. Most affected are children and adolescents. Warts can be acquired through direct contact with an infected person or surface such as a gym shower. Most often they appear on fingers, around fingernails, back of hands, face, knees or elbows. They can be ugly, annoying and embarrassing but the good news is that warts can be treated naturally if you do not want to wait for them to go away on their own. If you have a wart that is discolored and causes you pain do not ignore it, schedule an examination with your medical doctor immediately.
If you have access to fresh herbs here are some suggested herbs that can help dissolve the common wart. Fresh organic chickweed is rich in saponins, which assists in dissolving the wart. Apply the juice of chickweed to the wart and cover with a bandage. Fresh organic dandelion flower stalks and leaves produce a white sap that helps to dissolve the wart. Apply the fresh sap directly to the wart while taking care not to get any on the surrounding skin. Cover the wart with a bandage. Fresh organic mullein flowers can be infused in olive oil or made into a strong tea. Apply the infused oil or tea to the wart and cover with a bandage. Try any or all of the above fresh herbal remedies twice a day everyday until the wart shrivels and drops off.
The above listed fresh organic herbs are not always accessible. But there are many essential oils that are effective alternatives. Essential oils can be found in your natural grocery store, herb store or bath and body store. Essential oils are convenient to work with and if stored in a cool dry place will last several years. Store your essential oil collection out of children's reach. Seven essential oils that can assist in the healing of common warts are: lavender, lemon, tea tree, cypress, geranium-rose, helichrysum and blue yarrow. Place a few drops of fresh organic aloe vera gel and 1 drop of one of the above mentioned essential oils directly on the wart. Apply a small circular bandage over the wart. Perform this procedure twice a day everyday until the wart dissolves.
If you have any chronic health condition seek a doctor's opinion prior to using herbs or essential oils.
